Is organic better for sensitive skin?
If one is able to use organic products, there are certainly many benefits of going down this route. Organic skincare products are typically made of plant-sourced and naturally occurring ingredients commonly grown without the use of chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers.

These organic ingredients are extracted with less processing methods, leaving them closer to their natural state, resulting in components higher in nutritional value. The ingredients list reads simpler and shorter and the resulting product fresher, with the use of gentler preservatives. Naturally occurring vitamins and nutrients evident in organic skincare also encourage the skin's natural ability to repair and rejuvenate itself.

A key benefits of using organic skincare is the exclusion of a few ingredients that might cause skin sensitivity. For example, the term 'fragrance' on a beauty product label is made up of complex formulations of different ingredients. Due to the fact that the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) does not require companies to disclose the ingredients that make up the 'fragrance', it could mean that one or a few of these ingredients may be responsible for altering the skin’s PH levels, aggravating or worsening the skin through irritation or by triggering an allergic reaction.

There are even possibilities that one or more of these ingredients may be linked to types of cancers or other health concerns. Finding a product that states it is 'USDA-Certified Organic' will ensure the ingredient 'fragrance' will not be found on its list. Instead, all ingredients utilized would be listed clearly and individually.
Do a skin patch test by dabbing a small amount on the inside of your forearm
A helpful point to note in choosing skincare products is to take the time to read labels carefully, and not just label claims. If you are unsure about a new product purchased, always do a skin patch test by dabbing a small amount on the inside of your forearm and wait about 24 hours before determining if this product might cause a reaction.
